Exploring the digital era: Digicult
Digicult is an online/offline cultural and editorial platform from Italy, created with the aim to spread digital art and culture worldwide. It focuses on the impact of new technologies and modern sciences on art, design, culture, and contemporary society.
Founded and directed by Marco Mancuso, 40 professionals now actively participate in Digicult. They claim to represent the first extensive Italian network of journalists, curators, artists and critics in the field of digital art and culture. Today, Digicult is a web portal updated daily with news from all over the world, with calls for artists, with events and project highlights, links, reviews, and theoretical texts.
Digicult is also the editor of the monthly magazine Digimag, which focuses on a selection of cultural and artistic issues like net art, hacktivism, video art, electronica, audio video, interaction design, art and science, new media, software art, as well as performing art.
Digicult also produces an electronic music and audiovisual podcast, Digipod, has its own international newsletter service Diginews and is involved in special projects and curatorial activities in Italy and worldwide with the art agency Digimade.
