A live drawing performance to be followed up by a video screening. Tiberiu Bleoanca and Viviana Druga are inspired by contemporary dance that is abstracted from tradition, freeing the body and mind from restraint. Simple, primitive ways of communicating through movement are pursued.
The creative act is likened to the ritualistic act of the painter-hunter who symbolically sticks his spear into the bison (painting or carving representation that may be found on a cave wall) before he goes hunting. In their work, the artists have the same attitude, same savageness, same ancestral conscience of the Sacred except that they intend not to kill the bison, as such, but search for it's origin, in a retrace of human nature.
If the primitive was interested in the primary purpose of the hunt (provide food or fur to warm himself), we are now interested in the rediscovery of it, its beauty. The purpose of the ritualistic act that we are enacting now is a cult one, the hunting procedure is self-reflecting one - something as pertaining to the realm of ideas.
The Live Animals Performance can be seen at Direktorenhaus from 23rd - 27th August 2010 from 11.00 to 19.00.
